Here are some places to find more information about dog care, behavior resources, training, and other things I have found to be useful in my time as a dog owner.
Helpful Tips and Ideas
The internet is full of ideas for pet owners, from helping you choose a leash to making your own treats. Mental stimulation products, games, training tips, class recommendations, and even where to go with your pup on vacation are all a click away. The DIY'r can find endless crafting, baking, and activity ideas on sites like Pinterest. Always stop to make sure what you are doing is safe for your dog. Small pieces of plastic (like from a water bottle) or ingredients in a homemade treat could be harmful.
That said, make sure you are providing your dog, especially a easily bored Weimaraner puppy, with plenty of physical and mental stimulation. Mental work can be just as taxing as a walk and wear out an active pooch. Games, fillable treat dispensers, lick mats, snuffle mats, and Kong type products are a great way to keep your dog busy. Ideas for "fillers" can be found online, but include things like bananas, green beans, cooked pumpkin, and cooked chicken as well as canned dog food. Be creative. A game of hide and seek in the house is a great way to work on recall while burning off energy. Have fun!
